/ Për GRAVITAS /
Gravitas (lat.

/ About GRAVITAS /
Gravitas (lat. Gravity), in a scientific context, is a natural phenomenon by which all things with mass or energy are brought toward one another; socially, this word describes someone or something that has weight and importance. During GRAVITAS, ARMATA becomes the center of tones and harmonies, noise is unified and turns dimensional, creating a platform of importance for cultural dialogue.

THEODORE is a dynamic multi-instrumentalist, composer and performer. Releasing his new album in the fall of 2018, the Greek performer has already garnered considerable success with his previous album ‘It Is But It’s Not’ which was co-produced by Clive Martin (Queen, Reef) mixed by Ken Thomas (Sigur Rós, Moby, M83) and performed live at the fabled Studio 2 at Abbey Road Studios.
With over 1.7 million Youtube views, he has received radioplay from the likes of BBC Radio 6 Music’s Lauren Laverne and French station RadioKC, included as part of NPR Music’s ‘SXSW’ 2018: Our Favorite Discoveries And Memorable Moments’ and has received support from publications such as CLASH Mag, FGUK, Gaffa, Tsugi and Szene.
THEODORE has gained notoriety for his memorable live performances, dazzling audiences with his mesmerizing stage presence. He has graced the stages of Live at Heart, Eurosonic Noorderslag and Reeperbahn Festival – where he was named Best Performance Of 2017. His most notable performances include supporting Sigur Rós and DIIV at Release Festival Athens (2016), writing a new score for Buster Keaton’s classic silent comedy of 1928, ‘The Cameraman’, which he performed live with his band at the film screening in the unforgettable setting of the Temple of Zeus in Athens, the show at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center as part of the Music Escapades series, and the audiovisual performance at the steps of Hermoupolis City Hall in Syros, for the closing ceremony of Animasyros 10 (2017).
Fusing classical composition with electronic elements to create beautiful, atmospheric and often cinematic songs, his unique mélange of influences allow a broad scope of movement from ethereal, to melancholic, to classical, to post rock. The album’s first single release titled ‘Towards? (for what is to come)’ is a sonic stream of consciousness, capturing every nuance of Theodore’s technical wizardry, while second single ‘Spit Blood Out’ (released on June 8) displays the musician’s atmospheric sound and soaring vocals, celestial synthesizers and intoxicating basslines all float amidst solar rays of shimmered guitar tones. Covering a wide sonic scope, THEODORE drowns ethereal melodies in a cauldron of psychedelic sounds, while his upcoming album, ‘Inner Dynamics’ explores the two different sides of one’s personality; the conscious and the magical one, inspired by the battle between them.
NPR, All Songs Considered (March 2018) – US
“SXSW 2018 Wrap-UpOur Favorite Discoveries And Memorable Moments – Greek musician Theodore’s song, “Are We There Yet?” brings to mind the aural largess of Pink Floyd’s “Us And Them,” but its title belies just how satisfying the slow-building journey can be.”
Music Week (May 2018) – UK
“‘Spit Blood Out’ displays the musician’s atmospheric sound and soaring vocals, celestial synthesizers and intoxicating basslines, all float amidst solar rays of shimmered guitar tones.”
Lauren Laverne, BBC Radio 6 Music – UK
“Theodore – ‘It Is But It’s Not’, one of my most exciting discoveries.”
Clash Magazine (February, 2018) – UK
“New song ‘Towards? (for what is to come)’ is the result. Beautiful Sigur Rós-esque noise, it unfurls at its own pace, a patient display of stellar imagination.”
Europavox (September, 2017) – DE
“REEPERBAHN 2017-BEST PERFORMANCE: THEODORE – Playing in a cramped, sweaty room just off the Reeperbahn, GR multi-instrumentalist Theodore, and his gang on key wizards and guitar maestros jammed it out highlighting their ruthless ability to compose atmospherics, with dynamic ingenuity. Harkening in people drifting along the street, and keeping them with their virtuoso performance, Theodore’s command of the (tiny) stage is one that can be rarely challenged.”
